Ik weet nog dat ik dat vroeger ook altijd bij mijn katten deed, zei vriendin T., en dan had ik het liefste van die dikke vrouwtjes. Die knalden veel harder uit elkaar dan de mannetjes. Met open mond staarde ik haar aan. Ik had een zielsverwant gevonden. Iemand die het net zo lekker vond als ik om vlooien te pletten. Om die vlooienlijfjes tussen 2 duimnagels te nemen en dan zo hard te drukken dat al hun ingewanden eruit barsten. Splet! Ik geniet oprecht van een spartelend vlooienlijfje dat gevangen zit tussen de kammen van de kam. De vlo kan geen kant op! En dan splet ik m tussen mn duimnagels. Hahaha! Het is een kunst op zich, dat vlooien doden. Dat wel. En de katten vinden het heerlijk om gevlooid te worden. Ze gaan er allemaal uitgebreid voor op hun rug liggen. Ze krijgen allemaal een dosis persoonlijke aandacht en ik verdelg de vlooien op een geheel biologische en milieuvriendelijke manier. Die vlooienbandjes stinken en die anti-vlooien-pipetjes vind ik te chemisch. Daarnaast werkt het vlooienkammen ook nog eens bijzonder therapeutisch voor mij. Al naar gelang het geslacht van de vlo schreeuw ik verwensingen naar het insect. Sterf, hoer, sterf, bijvoorbeeld. In gedachten uiteraard, niet hardop natuurlijk, men zou nog denken dat ik gek ben.
