En precies dat wat ik wilde, het plaatje, het teken, dat helemaal de bedoeling was, stond op pagina 1. No shit! Ik staarde naar die eerste pagina; een gekopieerd velletje uit een boek over de I-Tjing met Japanse tekens. Het was de pagina over het teken ‘bevrijding’. En uit precies hetzelfde boek had ik 12 jaar eerder de Japanse tekens voor m’n andere 2 tatoeages gehaald ‘maan’, ‘midden’ en ‘orkaan’. Uit fucking precies hetzelfde boek! Hoe groot is die kans? En hoe hard moet je dan lachen? Hoeveel hou je dan ineens van het leven en van jezelf? Heel veel dus, maar omdat ik even daarvoor nog een stuk of 6 witbiertjes op een terras had weggetikt leek het me zeer verstandig om even rustig uit te zoeken of dat levensgeluk een mij door het universum gegeven cadeautje was, of gewoon de alcoholroes waarin ik verkeerde. Just to be sure. Maar na jaren lang op m’n verstand te hebben vertrouwd, vertrouw ik de laatste weken 100% op m’n gevoel. Voelt goed? Doen! Voelt niet goed? Niet doen! En als ik heel eerlijk ben voelt momenteel alles goed. Dus toen ik gisterochtend wakker werd met nog steeds hetzelfde tatoeageplaatje voor m’n ogen pakte ik de bus richting Inkrowd Tattoos en daar eenmaal binnen riep ik: "Kom maar op mannen, ik ben er helemaal klaar voor." En gelukkig was ook Unu, de president van de Amsterdam Hell’s Angels, er helemaal klaar voor. En ondanks alle pijn, en mijn God, wat een ontzettend klote-kut-plekje om te tatoeëren, wat een pijn, wat een tanden-op-elkaar-pijn, heb ik tijdens de hele sessie zo ontzettend moeten lachen. Lachen om mezelf. Met mezelf. In mezelf. Om de hele situatie. Om alles. En vooral omdat ik ondanks alle pijn van de afgelopen tijd, zowel fysiek als mentaal, nog steeds in staat ben om keihard lief te hebben. En alleen diegenen die ooit zelf een tatoeage hebben laten zetten weten met wat voor een pik-omhoog-gevoel ik naar buiten liep. Hoe trots. Hoe blij. Hoe fucking stoer ik mezelf vond. En hoe m’n haar daarna ineens een stuk beter zat.
