Terwijl ik naast mamma zit te borduren komt er een vrouwtje de ziekenhuiskamer binnenlopen.
“Hallo, ik ben van de ziekenomroep”, zegt het vrouwtje.
Mamma kijkt mij aan met een blik van oh-krijgen-we-dat-weer.
“Wilt u misschien een plaatje aanvragen?”
En terwijl ik eigenlijk had gedacht dat m’n moeder hier dus helemaal geen zin in zou hebben, antwoord ze met een: “Ja, maar welke?”
“Waar houd u van?”, vraagt het ziekenomroep-vrouwtje.
“Je wil vast wel iets van Queen of niet, mam?”, zeg ik.
Ja, dat was wel een goed idee.
Mijn moeder is gek van Queen. Understatement.
“Heeft u misschien een lievelingsplaat?, vraagt het ziekenomroep-vrouwtje.
“Nee, niet echt”, zegt mamma.
“Bohemian Rhapsody? Of Innuendo? Of We Are The Champions?”
Nee, nee, nee.
“Of Who Wants To Live Forever?”
“Nou, laten we die maar niet doen hè, mamma, die wil je op je begrafenis, maar laten we hopen dat dat nog minstens 10 jaar duurt”, zeg ik.
Glimlach.
Die avond werd er Don’t Stop Me Now van Queen gedraaid, speciaal voor Riet van den Heuvel, tijdens de uitzending van de ziekenomroep.
Mamma lag lekker te slapen.
